Overview & Challenge

Windermere Care Centre, home to approximately 210 seniors, is a 15-story facility that experienced significant heat challenges due to southern solar exposure. Although equipped with air conditioning and a chiller system that activates automatically when night temperatures drop below 14°C, residents still faced elevated indoor temperatures during peak daylight hours. The south-facing units were particularly affected, creating ongoing comfort issues and increasing strain on the building’s cooling systems.

Our Solution & Results

Ecovision installed a Dual Reflective Film (DR150) across the southern wing on all 15 floors to effectively reduce solar heat gain. This high-performance film minimized glare, enhanced privacy, and significantly lowered indoor temperatures, creating a more comfortable environment for residents. For results the installation achieved an average 3°C temperature reduction building-wide, improving comfort and reducing strain on the cooling system, delivering measurable, lasting performance.
